Yes, some of it is spam, but there are lots of places in the world where we have regular readers, and not in the most obvious of places.

Setting aside hits from search engines, this blog attracts a wide, international audience.  Why?  Because addiction is a world-wide phenomenon.  It is not bound to certain races, ethnicities or cultures, nor is it strictly 'socio-economic.'  Communism, Socialism, Capitalism, or Chaos... the problem of addiction persists.

People throughout the world are looking for a way out.  This blog is not the passage to freedom, but it points out the way.

I am convinced that the only true freedom one can experience is through Christ in His Church, and I believe that the 12 Steps are the best method to prepare one for this entry into union with God in the Orthodox Church.  I believe that without the 12 Steps, many Orthodox are left to struggle with their addictions by using their broken self-wills.  But, I think that there are also millions of sober addicts who's spiritual lives are stunted because they lack the full experience of the Orthodox Faith for which they long.

The Church and the Recovery Community are seeking the same things.  I am trying, in my own poor way, to nudge the two together with this blog.

I am always glad to see how many people are reading this blog, though it is also a bit frightening because I wonder if I am helping or hurting the process.  Ultimately, I have to turn this all over to God.  He sends the people here and, hopefully, I am writing what needs to be read.
